Where Am I Going and What Am I Doing in This Handbasket?
Hello!
First of all, thanks to Boomer for buying me lunch on Thursday. I got all flustered and panicky and forgot to say thanks.
So our taxes are done, the sun is out and the frogs are active. Yes, I have frogs. They are in a tank right next to where I sit in the living room. African Dwarf Frogs, which are entirely aquatic and adorable. Pictures to follow. I also have a Siamese fighting fish on the mantel now (Mr. Grumpy) and some fish in the kitchen nook. My therapist says "Starting a relaxing hobby is great, but should you be getting involved with things that die easily?" When the first frog died, I was devestated, but I got more frogs and it's better now. When it's harder to tell them apart and they're all named "Froggy", it's easier.
What else? I got a bike tune-up and a basket. I got some beads and jewlery making supplies (a hobby that doesn't involve death or worms - nice). Ice Prince is doing well in school. He's been made a Prefect. Talk about the inmates running the asylum. Oh, maybe that's a bad analogy. Anyhow...
Frank had his birthday last week, so it's been one year since Frankstock. Wow. Suzapalooza is coming in about 18 months. Not sure what it will involve, but it ill be grand.
My hair is brown. Ish.
Frank took me for a really nice dinner out to Opal Jazz lounge. He totally surprised me. I love surprises!
I have a nice spring wardrobe of sundresses and such. Being on leave from work, I realized how little I had in the way of "casual" clothes. And in case you're wondering, yes I still wear nylons at home. I'm wearing some right now, but they're flesh coloured. That's casual for me.
Things are getting better, but I'm still not great in public. So hang in there and I will be back and socializing and lovely. Hey, this is my first real blog post, so kudos to me!

Accentuate the positive, medicate the negative
Dear friends,
I have been diagnosed with depression and I am on leave from work for several weeks.
It's rough, but it will get better. Bear with me and thanks. I'll probably begin to blog more again when I'm up to it. I certainly don't want to bore you with tales of my journey through the forest of darkness.
Oh, and rent Bon Cop, Bad Cop. It's a great movie.

Chez Ice: Meth Lab In Disguise?
Here are some signs that there may be a meth lab in your neighbourhood (courtesy of National Defence Canada):
A cat urine-like smell CHECK!
Rusting of stainless steel - maybe
Areas of dead vegetation CHECK!
Brass pipe fittings that have turned blue - huh?
Excessive amounts of waste, including bottles CHECK!
But sadly, no. I have no revenue generating hobbies.

Testing, 1-2-3...Is this thing on?
Sorry for the slow posting. The blogto thing has been keeping me busy (my first restaurant review, Tuesday! Which might be today, depending on when you're reading this!) and I've been blue lately. Really blue. Possibly even indigo. Even though things are really going pretty well for me. Except for doing the work of 2 and a half people at work, but at least I'm not being laid off. Probably some sort of pinot noir deficiency. Fresh and I are planning on a getaway this weekend with food and wine and a jacuzzi,. Self-medicating. Anyhow, one of the few things that makes me smile these days is zefrank. Especially this. Enjoy responsibly, at home or with the headphones on. Safe for work, but singing involved.
Also, one of my favourites of all time: Steven Banks. Start with Home Entertainment Centre #1 and work your way through (the order matters, there is SOME plot.) Bloody brilliant. Again: singing involved.

Takes After His Mum, He Does
Ice Prince had to sit on the bench during gym today because he couldn’t find one shoe. I expressed dismay.
“It’s okay, Mommy! You get to watch people do the hard sit ups and when they have to run in circles, you get to wave at them like this (IP demonstrates smug smile and the Queen’s wave).”
The shoe magically appeared when gym was over.
I suspect a letter home any day now.
New Cheapspot coming soon! Delayed by purchase of cheap digital camera batteries which died almost immediately. My bad.

So Ice Prince is big into Harry Potter these days. I was watching Lord of the Rings the other night and holy cow! It’s the same thing!
Harry = Frodo
Ron = Sam
Merry and Pippin = Fred and George Weasley
Aragorn = Sirius
Gimli = Hagrid
Legolas = Hermione
Dumbledore = Gandalf
Voldemort = Sauron
Wormtail = Wormtongue
Invisibility cloak = ring
Dobby = Gollum
Whomping Willow = Treebeard
Etc Etc Etc
We could also compare to Star Wars, with Harry as luke, Ron as Hans and Hermione as Leia.
